Mustafa Dzhemilev is one of the best-known leaders of the Crimean Tatar National Movement. He has spent years, working on the return of Crimean Tatars to Crimea from Central Asia, where they were deported by the Soviet Union. He is the former chairman of the Majlis of Crimean Tatars and a member of the Ukrainian Parliament since 1998. He is the chairman of the charity “Crimea.” He has been appointed by The President of Ukraine as a commissioner for the affairs of the Crimean People.
