Research Analyst for the annual Freedom on the Net publication at Freedom House
Laura Reed is a research Analyst for the annual Freedom on the Net publication at Freedom House, where she covers country reports for Eurasia, Europe, and the United States. Prior to joining Freedom House, Reed completed an MA in Human Rights at Columbia University with a focus on media in transitional justice contexts. In the fall of 2012 she was a visiting scholar at the Documentation Centre of Cambodia (DC-Cam) in Phnom Penh, where she studied the relationship between civil society and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) in producing historical narratives about the Khmer Rouge. Reed has also conducted research on topics related to the international regulation of hate speech, media regulation in post-conflict settings, and the use of social media for human rights campaigns.
