Marriet Schuurman
NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security
Ambassador Marriet Schuurman is the NATO Secretary General’s special Representative for Women, Peace and Security. She has served as a diplomat for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in many countries of the world, most recently in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. She has been heavily involved with Africa, being the Deputy Chief of Mission and Head of Cooperation in Sudan and she held the position of Head of the Great Lakes Unit in the Sub-Sahara Africa Department. She has a Master’s degree in Translation Studies from the University of Amsterdam.
