Dmitry Muratov is one of the foremost journalists in Russia. He was born in Kuybyshev (now, Samara), where he graduated from the Samara State University in 1983. Thereafter, he worked at the newspaper Volzhskiy Komsomolets. He has worked at different Russian newspapers – first Komsomolskaya Pravda, and later, was one of the founders of Novaya Gazeta. Since February 1995, he has been the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta. He has worked in many “hot spots” around the world: Afghanistan, Nagorniy Karabakh, Chechnya.
